Athena’s Smart Scroll technology analyzes the user’s gaze behavior relative to on-screen content and automatically scrolls the content accordingly. Eye gestures and control zones allow users to scroll, swipe, and select using only their eyes. With gaze-based cursor movement and dwell selection, Athena enables a fully hands-free user interface. Reading Awareness extends these capabilities, identifying patterns characteristic of reading, providing analytics on focus, comprehension, and engagement.

Athena Reader is a demo app showcasing one of many Eye Control capabilities and use cases. Using on-device gaze tracking, the app detects when, where, and how fast you’re reading and automatically scrolls the content to match your pace. You can also navigate hands-free with simple eye gestures and stay on track with Reading Focus. 

While this demo focuses on reading for phones and tablets, Athena’s core technology applies more broadly, enabling gaze-based navigation and interaction across smart devices and XR wearables.
